What defines dunecore
The look answers a practical question: what would you wear to cross open desert? The answer is loose, layered and covered, in colors that match dust and stone.
- Palette: sand, coffee, rust, olive and sage, plus dirt-dyed and sun-baked washes.
- Draping: robes, detachable scarves and hoods that wrap like a head cloth.
- Protection: wide-brim hats, fingerless gloves and half-turtleneck base layers.
- Utility: cargo pockets, detachable waist bags and crescent bags.
- Fabrics: cotton, faux suede, cupro and moleskin, with mesh for airflow.
How the labels interpret it
XIPHEVIL offers the most direct reference: a faux suede robe in sand with knot buttons and an asymmetric hem, plus coffee and sage paneled sweatshirts. RELABEL attaches striped scarves to wide-leg cargo pants in coffee and brown. STEAM dirt-dyes its workwear and adds a washed bucket hat and riding gloves, and the ERROR CODE ROBOT Washed Rust Multi-Pocket Jacket carries an all-over rust wash.
Wearing it outside the desert
Build from one earth tone and vary the texture: a sand robe or coffee sweatshirt over loose cargo pants, finished with a bucket hat. Skip goggles and face wraps unless the weather calls for them; the palette and drape already set the theme.

Dunecore & Desertcore – FAQ
What is dunecore?
Dunecore is a fashion style inspired by desert survival and sci-fi films such as Dune: earth-toned loose layers, robes and wraps, and practical utility pieces. Desertcore is a closely related name for the same look.
What is the difference between dunecore and desertcore?
The two terms are used almost interchangeably. Dunecore leans toward the sci-fi version with robes and draped hoods, while desertcore is used more broadly for any sand-toned, sun-ready utility look.
What colors work for a dunecore outfit?
Sand, beige, coffee, rust, olive and sage, ideally with washed or dirt-dyed finishes. Building an outfit from two or three of these tones keeps it cohesive.
Is dunecore practical in hot weather?
Much of it is: loose cuts, breathable cotton and cupro, mesh panels and wide-brim hats suit the heat. Heavier pieces such as wax-coated denim or padded jackets are better for cooler days.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are usually fulfilled within 2–4 business days. Standard shipping then takes 5–10 business days and is free on orders over $159 ($9 otherwise); expedited shipping takes 3–5 business days.
